As we roll towards the imminent GE13/PRU13, our thoughts and discussions seemed to be centering around – “Are we, after 4 years since the Tsunami of 2008, voting for PR or are we still just ‘NOT’ voting for BN?” Have the PR MPs, who were thrust into the limelight as YBs, solely by the virtue of being in the right seat at the right time, earned their keep? Or, do they still need to our ‘ blind’ support to ensure that the mighty machinery of BN does not decimate them this time around. Do they need to prove that they deserve our support, by being accountable for their words and actions these past 4 years, or do we just say, “Give them another go, even if we don’t see an improvement in the quality of the candidates put before us” . I sincerely hope that those in PR realize that the free ride they got in 2008, will not last forever. Like all rides, a stop will come, and at that point they will need to get out and push in order to win their seats again. YB Hee Loy Sian , MP for P105 Petaling Jaya Selatan has hopefully armed himself with lots of talking points to tell the folks in PJSelatan, as to why he deserves to retain his seat. I will still probably stick to my 2008 vote. But how many others, may feel that expectations were not met sufficiently by our newly minted MPs. And how many may think about swinging back because of the rosy future the BN paints for us, should we elect to go back to the ‘Dark Side’ ?
Are we voting out BN, or are we voting in the right candidate for us?
